How is Technology Impacting The Way We Consume Things?
More than 70% of US fears robots taking over our lives, Pew research finds. It is just a matter of time when you wake up one day and there will be all robots around you. From brewing fresh Coffee to washing your clothes. From driving you in the Autonomous car to taking notes on your way to work.
Every single thing that can be done with the help of a human is now being replaced by machines. The change is exponential yet helpful. It is not a sudden transformation. In fact, people evolved with the technology just in time. If you are a struggling Entrepreneur or a small business owner, the least you can do, to survive is to adopt this latest technology.
For Entrepreneurs, the first ventures are usually the test run. The smart Entrepreneurs learn on the go and adopt the technology, but some take time to evolve. No matter what your case is, the result is evolution. And not just any evolution, you need to evolve in the right direction.
Being technology smart is not just a choice anymore, it is a necessity. I am a serial Entrepreneur and after two failed startups I realized the importance of technology and how it adds value to my everyday business. From building strong processes at work to managing my personal life, technology is one thing that helped me to cope up with the problems in real-time.
Either Evolve or Die
From my first purchase online, which was an HD monitor that took two days just for the research. I visited forums, joined communities, read reviews and finally came to the conclusion. Coming back to the present, now, with so vast amount of choices, I can simply check for UHD monitor reviews and buy the one that best-fit my need.
If you are not a geek, it might be overwhelming for you to make a choice between old school and the new technology products. Online reviews can help you make a better choice.
There are several ways in which you can integrate technology into your lives. With the inception of VR technology, people are moving towards time-saving devices.
If you want to rule in this era, you need to shift to VR devices, fast. No kidding. This is the new super hit idea which will take over the world in the next 5 years.
What if You Don’t Evolve?
It is not even a logical question anymore. You don’t really have a choice. If you want to survive, you need to shift.
But one daunting question is the safety of the product. For every choice we make there are pros and cons. With technology, there are more pros than cons. You always have that choice to move along or to stick with old-school methods. In the end, it is up to you to make that change or not.
You can either remain in the old school or disregard the technology altogether. Or you can witness the brands that are making that technological change. The social-cultural-transformation that is happening in the face of your eyes.
The endless possibilities that are making things simple, or complex for some people. You need to take this thing seriously and make your plan to move forward in the right direction.
What most of the Entrepreneurs lack is lack of risk taking. If you don’t take calculated risks, how will you evolve? You need to study what the successful people are adopting and synchronize it with your personal and business values. Sure, this will take time. And a lot of courage to move away from your comfort zone.
But once, you do the necessary research and move forward with the things that are already working for other people, your journey ahead will be easy.
How am I Technology Helping in Making Us Better Humans?
With the social media platforms all over the internet, I can better manage my business communication and network just with a help of a single smartphone. I still remember my first venture, in which I had to visit offices and meet people to pitch my product. But now, I can reach them on Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn and before I even pitch them I can know their behavior, their likes, dislikes and pitch them accordingly.
To an extent, this is a good thing. But as they say, an excess of anything can bedangerous. For instance, you cannot ignore the power of face-to-face communication. Sure, you can connect with people over social media but you still need to make that connection in person.
You need to go out there and pitch your product. But one advantage you have today is that you can check the behavior of your client, you can see what the client is looking for and what his problems are and then mold your pitch according to his needs.
This, to me, is the biggest shift in technology and how things are working. Your consumers are industry smart and know what your product costs and how you are different from your competitor.
Now it is up to you to make the most of technology and do what is necessary to standout your venture from the competitors. Just like people used to say that if in the year 2015 you don’t understand and speak the English language you cannot survive in this world, in a similar manner, if you don’t adopt the technology you won’t be able to survive in this knowledge-based economy.
The question is not about do you want to switch or not, the question then is, what are the technological advancements that can help your business. For instance, there are a lot of social media platforms that are helping everyone. So, you can try them all and see what is working for you. No need to invest in every social media platform that your competitor is using. You can pick the one that is helping you and master it to the core.
