Federal provisions of the Violence Against Women Act allow victims of crimes without citizenship to apply for themselves to remain in the United States. Obtaining lawful permanent residency allows our clients to leave their abusers without fear of deportation or loss of rights for their children. The provisions of VAWA apply equally to men and women. Mi Gente – VAWA Legal Solutions provides legal advice to spouses, children, and in some cases, parents who have experienced abuse and/or extreme psychological cruelty at the hands of a U.S. citizen (USC) or lawful permanent resident (LPR).
